Provincial government officials are monitoring the water situation across the province and have identified Knysna, Calitzdorp, van Wyksdorp, Ladismith, Zoar Witsand, Dysselsdorp and De Rust as towns posing the highest risk to water security in the region.

Western Cape MEC for Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning Anton Bredell said that level six water restrictions are in place for Dysselsdorp and De Rust in the Klein Karoo near Oudtshoorn.

Bredell said that level four restrictions are in place for Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, Kurland village, Natures Valley, Witsand, Calitzdorp, Van Wyksdorp, Ladismith and Zoar.

Several other towns across the province face level one to level three restrictions, while Cape Town has been left unaffected.
