Firefighting efforts are continuing on the Dwars Rivier fire in the Cederberg region of the Western Cape.
Heinrich Robertson, spokesperson for West Coast Fire and Rescue, says the fire is still burning out of control, largely in inaccessible mountainous areas.
Another fire in the Cederberg municipality—burning between Algeria and Cape Nature—has been successfully brought under control. Mop-up operations are currently underway in that sector.
Robertson emphasised that while the Dwars Rivier fire remains active, there is currently no cause for panic.
"Firefighting efforts are largely focused on containing the blaze and maintaining control, particularly as some of the affected areas are inaccessible due to mountainous terrain," Robertson said. "Authorities are closely monitoring the situation but at this stage, there is no reason for panic."
