The South African Policing Union (SAPU) has urged the public to allow the law to take its course in a matter related to 11 anti-gang unit (AGU) members accused of murder.
Ten of the accused were denied bail in the Athlone Magistrates Court on Tuesday related to the murder of Manenberg resident Wade Price.
Price was arrested on 4 December and died after allegedly being suffocated during interrogation.

"The accused members are entitled to their constitutional presumption of innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” said SAPU Western Cape acting provincial secretary Merae Otto.
“SAPU will continue to monitor the case closely and urges all parties to allow the legal process to take its course. We also call on communities to remain calm and to refrain from speculation while the matter is before the court."
