High heat and discomfort forecast for Cape Winelands and Karoo

The South African Weather Service has issued a warning for very hot and uncomfortable conditions across the southwestern interior on Monday.

In the Western Cape, the cape Winelands, northern Garden Route, Overberg and most areas on the west coast are expected to reach temperatures in the mid to high 30s.

Forecaster Lehloholo Thobela has warned that these high temperatures could have significant health implications.

He has advised residents to stay hydrated and take precautions against the extreme heat...

"Such weather conditions can be significant, especially to health impacts, so it is essential to take necessary precautions to protect yourself. Some of the impacts that are expected, you can expect the temperature when it's extremely high, humans' ability to cool their bodies through sweating is reduced," said Thobela.
