Frustrated ANC supporters demand action on service delivery

Some African National Congress (ANC) supporters attending the party's 114th celebration rally have bemoaned the lack of service delivery in the North West.

Hundreds of people have already filled up the Moruleng stadium, just outside Rustenburg.

The event is a culmination of a week-long of activities where ANC leaders were criss-crossing the Northwest, engaging with residents in a province considered the party’s stronghold.

Lerumo resident, Leonard Tlou has walked more than ten minutes in the scorching sun to attend the ANC's rally on Saturday.

He said he still loves the party despite the poor service delivery in his community.

“We are struggling with roads, water, schools, we are unemployed and struggling as a society,” said Tlou.

Otukile Makgetla, who was bused in from a nearby town, said he hopes ANC members deployed to government start doing better.

“They must please help us with water and jobs. We are also struggling with electricity, load shedding is killing us," said Makgetla.

The North West has 23 municipalities, with all of them governed by the ANC either outright or through coalitions.
