Coach John Dobson says last week’s heavy defeat to Harlequins exposed physical shortcomings but has driven major changes, with 13 new players set to start.

Stormers eye Champions Cup revival in crucial Leicester clash

The DHL Stormers face a must-win Champions Cup clash against Leicester Tigers on Saturday in Cape Town, with their campaign hanging in the balance after a heavy loss to Harlequins.

A win, combined with other results, could still secure a home round-of-16 match, while a defeat would likely force the Stormers into a tough away playoff.

Head coach John Dobson admitted last weekend’s humbling exposed a lack of depth and physicality, particularly at the breakdown, but said the loss had sharpened focus.

"We're making 13 changes to the team that played against the Harlequins. It wasn't our first team out there."

Leicester is expected to field a mixed squad as they juggle domestic priorities, but Dobson believes the Stormers’ reaction will be strong.

Around 30,000 fans are expected at Cape Town Stadium, with Dobson calling the match a crucial chance to restore confidence ahead of a demanding run of fixtures.

"There's going to be a bounce back of some note."

Kickoff is at 5.15 pm.
