Members of Parliament’s ad hoc committee probing police corruption have slammed former Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) head Robert McBride accusing him of undermining the inquiry.
The members from different parties said McBride’s attitude and tone has been inappropriate since his evidence started on Tuesday, and have demanded an apology.
McBride has been responding to several questions before the committee on Wednesday about his relationship with the controversial forensic investigator - Paul O’Sullivan.
The former IPID boss clashed with members of the committee when he was questioned about his history, including arrests for drunk driving when he was the chief of the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department.

McBride also took exception to being questioned about a charge of alleged abuse in a case involving his daughter, even threatening committee member Sibonelo Nomvalo.
“Yes, it is but it’s my family. I’ve just said, and watch it also.”
This led to an angry response from Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) member of Parliament (MP) Leigh Ann Mathys.
“Mr McBride, you can’t come here and threaten any member of Parliament. I heard you say you must 'watch it'.”
ActionSA MP Dereleen James called on McBride to apologise and added that he should watch how he addresses the committee and other witnesses.
“He owes us an apology before we can just move on.”
McBride will conclude his evidence on Wednesday.
