UPDATE | Eastern Cape school shooting death toll rises

The death toll in a shooting at Ntabankulu Primary School in Zwelitsha, in the Eastern Cape, has risen to three.

It’s alleged that a former teacher of the school - who was out on bail for sexual assault charges involving learners - gained entry to the premises and opened fire on three educators, killing one and injuring the other two at the scene.

One of the injured victims succumbed to their injuries on Thursday, while another remains in critical condition in hospital.

The suspect turned the gun on himself during the ordeal and was also declared dead at the scene.
