The African National Congress (ANC) said that it’s still investigating outstanding issues from December’s greater Johannesburg elective conference.

The conference saw Loyiso Masuku defeat Dada Morero as the party’s regional chairperson.

However, concerns have since emerged over possible irregularities.

The ANC greater Johannesburg elective conference was reportedly marred by allegations of vote-buying and bribing of delegates.

On Saturday, ANC secretary general Fikile Mbalula confirmed receiving a letter from Morero over a potential conflict of interest from one of the delegates tasked with the counting of votes.

The letter states the delegate had previously worked in Masuku’s office.

Mbalula said that all the allegations are being investigated.

“We are responding to the complaints because the electoral commission made public pronouncements on the electoral process and the interventions they have made and that prompted reaction. Before that, there was no issue. Everybody had accepted the outcome and all of that.”

Mbalula said the investigations will be completed within a week.
