The Democratic Alliance (DA) in KwaZulu-Natal has called for a meeting with all parties represented in the Government of Provincial Unity (GPU) as it attempts to mend broken relations.
The status of the GPU came under threat following the National Freedom Party’s announcement that it was leaving the arrangement over dissatisfaction.
However, the DA said such issues must be addressed.
The DA is pushing for the survival of the coalition-led government with the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), African National Congress (ANC), and NFP, saying its stability must prevail.
The DA holds two positions in the executive council, including finance and public works and infrastructure.
On Saturday, the party had a two-hour-long meeting with NFP leaders about the GPU and issues affecting it.
DA KZN chairperson Dean MacPherson said: "The party has been very clear that the GPU represents the best vehicle to deliver growth and jobs for the people of KwaZulu-Natal."
MacPherson said all four parties would meet in Durban next weekend to map a way forward.
