A gunman linked to last month's mass shooting at a tavern in Cape Town is expected to appear in the Athlone Magistrates Court.
Bheki Manxiwa was allegedly among the trio that targeted nine people in Marikana informal settlement in Philippi East.
The shooting is believed to be extortion-related.
Bheki Manxiwa is accused of being one of three gunmen who shot and killed nine people at a tavern in the Marikana informal settlement on 17 January 2026.
The 19-year-old was arrested in Zwelethemba in Worcester a week later.
The teenager confessed to being linked to the deadly mass shooting and has been charged with nine counts of murder, attempted murder, and two counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances.
Prosecutors said more charges are expected when he makes his second court appearance this morning.
The State added that it will also oppose his bail bid should he choose to apply.
