Hawston residents have evacuated their homes due to flooding in the Overstrand.
Disaster management teams assisted residents out of their homes after fire and rescue services received a high volume of emergency calls overnight.
The Overstrand received up to 60 millimetres of rain since Sunday night.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow Level 4 warning for inclement weather in the Overberg.
As the flood waters rose in the area, several residents evacuated their homes in Hawston and the surrounding areas.
"We had lots of flooding of houses in Austin, and some people had to be assisted with evacuation. Most of these people indicated that they will stay with family and friends,” said municipal manager Dean O'Neil.
The municipality has deployed operational teams to ensure the stormwater network is cleared in identified problem areas.
