City of Johannesburg's Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security, Mgcini Tshwaku, has denied the Johannesburg Metro Police’s involvement in a shooting incident in Linden on Sunday.
ActionSA said an ‘anti-drug operation’ was taking place, and its Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate, Xolani Khumalo, was present.

Tshwaku clarified that JMPD was not involved and that the operation was initiated after a community tip-off.
He said police were called to the scene after a community member reported the incident to SAPS, and they requested backup from JMPD.
“When you do those kinds of operations, you must have an operational plan so that you can cover yourself in court. But, on this one, the JMPD were not involved. Even the Gauteng Police were not involved.
“We were called by members of the community that there is an individual who had been shot. They discovered that it was the Moja Love crew making a video.”
Tshwaku added that JMPD has previously worked with the anti-crime reality show, Sizok'Thola, which Khumalo hosts, but does not know what happened in this incident.
“On this tip-off… they were operating on their own mandate of which I don’t know… They were acting on their own accord,” he said.
