The case of alleged crime boss Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala will return to the Johannesburg High Court on Thursday morning where an update on his bid to be moved from the eBongweni Super Maximum Correctional Facility will be heard.
Matlala, his wife, Tsakane, and three others face 25 charges linked to three botched hits between August 2022 and January 2024.
One of the attempted murder cases is for a hit on Matlala’s socialite ex-girlfriend, Tebogo Thobejane.
During Matlala’s last court appearance, his lawyers told the court that he may be bringing another bail application on new facts.
This could be Matlala’s third attempt at a release on bail.
Talks of the application come as Matlala’s lawyers have complained about the implications of consulting with him, while he is incarcerated at the eBongweni Super Maximum Correctional Facility, in Kokstad.
On Thursday morning, the court will also receive an update on the readiness for trial for Matlala’s co accused, alleged hitmen Musa Kekana, Tiego Mabusela, Mabusela’s daughter, Nthabiseng Nzama, and Tsakane.
