Lesufi rejects claims govt officials shielded from Gauteng water crisis

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has rejected claims that government officials are shielded from ongoing water shortages in Gauteng, insisting that leaders experience the same disruptions affecting communities across the province.
Speaking at a media briefing on Wednesday, Lesufi said there is no preferential treatment for public representatives as residents in parts of Johannesburg and surrounding areas continue to face intermittent water supply.

His remarks come amid growing frustration and protests over continuing outages because of ageing infrastructure and system constraints.
Residents have accused authorities of failing to act quickly enough to resolve the crisis.
“In some instances, I had to go to your certain hotel so that I bought to go to my commitment. We also go through the same inconvenience like any other person. There's no special water or a special time that is designed to service other people,” said the premier.
Lesufi said the water challenges are close to being fixed
“Those who have the expertise, the talent, the skill to solve this problem have updated us today [Wednesday], that if we move water from one area to another, communities will start to see water until the entore system is stabilised.”
