Mamelodi Sundowns has suspended long-serving analyst Mario Masha over allegedly leaking tactical and training information and access codes for data platforms.
It is alleged that the information was leaked to former head coach Rulani Mokwena, whose current team, MC Alger, is set to face Sundowns on Saturday in the CAF Champions League.
Sports reporter Robin-Duke Madlala said that it is set to be determined how much information was shared and if it will affect the team’s performance in the match.
“It’s a massive game. It is a game that Sundowns have to win, regardless of what happens to Al Hilal and Saint-Éloi Lupopo. The stakes are massively high, and that is why Sundowns have taken this step to suspend Masha.”
Madlala noted that Masha may face serious consequences if the allegations are found to be true.
He added that tensions at Sundowns have already been high, with sources revealing that players do not want to work with the current coach, Miguel Cardoso.
“So, the question becomes if Sundowns wins the game, they are buying time for Cardoso to remain, but if they lose, Sundowns will pull the trigger. The club is in total mess.”
