Tottenham Hotspur has fired Thomas Frank after just eight months in charge, following a 2-1 defeat at home against Newcastle on Tuesday.
Sports reporter Jerry Cooks explained that the decision was inevitable given the team’s poor domestic form and the fans’ growing discontent.
He added that the team’s struggles are not just the result of Frank’s tenure, but also a symptom of deeper issues within the club, including poor recruitment and a lack of harmony among the fans, board and owners.
“There are a lot of problems at Spurs, and they go much deeper than the man in charge. But ultimately, he is the one who carries the can. There have been rumblings against the ownership for a long time, and that didn’t change even when [chairman] Daniel Levy left last summer.”
Potential candidates to replace Frank include Robert De Zerbi and Mauricio Pochettino.
“[The team] has really got to start thinking about plan B or another plan completely. They are in a lot of mess, and it's been a long time coming at Spurs.”
