Western Cape police have arrested another suspect linked to the Marikana informal settlement massacre, which claimed nine lives.
The victims were gunned down by unknown assailants who opened fire at an illegal liquor outlet in Philippi East in January.
A 19-year-old was apprehended days later, after being linked to the shooting.
According to police, a sting operation conducted shortly after midnight on Friday led to the arrest of a 20-year-old suspect at his home in Lower Cross Road, Philippi.
Police spokesperson Ndakhe Gwala said the suspect was found in possession of four cellphones, which were seized and submitted as evidence.
"The suspect was arrested and detained at Lentegeur Police Station. He will make his first court appearance in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates Court on Monday, 23 February 2026.”
