The traditional Prime Minister, Thulasiwe Buthelezi, has called on warring factions in the AmaZulu royal family to honour a Constitutional Court (ConCourt) ruling for the sake of unity.
On Friday, the ConCourt dismissed an application by Princes Simakadesamakhosi and Mbonisi Zulu, who sought to overturn the Supreme Court of Appeal judgement, affirming King Misuzulu as the rightful heir to the throne.
The apex court ruling has put an end to a five-year battle of the Zulu throne.
Since the ascension of King Misuzulu to the throne, the Zulu family has been deeply divided, as some preferred his older brother, Prince Simakadesamakhosi.
And over the years, the matter was heard by various courts, including the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein, where President Cyril joined proceedings to argue that his recognition of King Misuzulu was done fairly.
The ConCourt further lamented this.
During a media briefing in Durban on Monday, Buthelezi had this to say: “We trust that Prince Simakade, Prince Mbonisi and all those who were challenging for the throne realise that they’ve come to the end of the road.”
The opposition faction is yet to comment.
However, the Zulu monarch has since declared that they are more than welcome back.
