The City of Cape Town said it's committed to addressing the sewage overflow in Wesbank.
It said it has assigned daily operational teams to clear out the sewer line of tyres, construction rubble and other foreign objects.
MMC for Water and Sanitation Zahid Badroodien said he believes the blockages are caused by deliberate sabotage.
"We remain committed to attending to these sewer overflows as quickly as possible, but also call on the good residents of this community to report any suspicious activity so that these culprits can be caught in order to reduce and eventually eliminate this crisis of sewer overflows as a result of sabotage and vandalism in the community of Wesbank."
Meanwhile, the GOOD Party said the City of Cape Town has done nothing to provide long term solutions to the sewage overflow.
Councilor Siyabulela Mamkeli said raw sewage can often be seen overflowing just hours after a temporary fix.
"The sewer crisis at Monticello and Flower Street in Wesbank has escalated into a public health and economic emergency. Access to safe sanitation is a constitutional right.”
