A Turkish footballer’s quick thinking brought a seagull back from the brink of death after it was struck mid-air.

Amateur side Istanbul Yurdum was playing a promotion-deciding clash against Mevlanakapi Guzelhisar on Sunday when Yurdum goalkeeper Muhammet Uyanik struck the bird while taking a defensive free kick.

In the viral video, the bird can be seen dropping to the ground immediately, and several players rush over.

Yurdum captain Catan can be seen performing CPR before carrying the bird to the pitch side.

"Our captain, Gani Catan, brought the seagull back to life thanks to the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) he performed on the field," the club said on Instagram.
