The Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court has heard that a prosecutor under investigation for corruption had been receiving her salary for four years.

Fifty-four-year-old Thandwa Moseneke was first suspected of accepting a bribe in 2021 but was not arrested until 2025.

During that time, she was still employed by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) while facing these allegations.

On Wedneday, the court heard how prosecutor Moseneke was alleged to have accepted a bribe of R1,000 from a share given to her by an investigating officer who himself received a bribe to make a case "go away" in 2021

At the time of the incident, the investigating officer was fired from his post and charged by the courts with a suspended sentence of five years.

While Moseneke was being investigated, it was during this time that she continued working with the NPA, earning her full salary.

It was only in 2025 when investigations advanced that she handed herself in and was subsequently arrested.

On Wednesday, when her attorney tried to argue that she is being prejudiced with the case being postponed to April, the State argued that it is incorrect when she was only actually arrested four years after being implicated, and that she kept her job in the meantime.

The matter was postponed for further investigations till 30 April 2026, while she remains out on bail.
