The Cape Crime Crisis Coalition says it's deeply alarmed by the quarterly crime statistics for the Western Cape.

While murders decreased, the statistics for the period October to December 2025 show Cape Town Central Police Station is number one on the list for community-reported serious crimes in the country.

Six other Western Cape suburbs are in the top thirty on the same list.

While murders decreased, the Western Cape recorded increases in several serious crimes in the latest quarterly crime statistics.

Cape Crime Crisis Coalition chairperson Llewellyn McMaster said it's not surprising.

"This reflects a deep and ongoing crisis of gang-related and inter-personal violence in the Western Cape."

The coalition is calling for the finalisation of a co-designed process agreed on by SAPS.

"And the implementation of a comprehensive anti-gang and violence prevention strategy on the Cape Flats."

Macmaster said short-term deployments to deal with gangsterism and crime in the province are not enough.
