Ekurhuleni metro police have confiscated goods from illegal and non-compliant traders in Benoni and Wattville.
The operation began on Saturday, with officers patrolling the streets and seizing various items, including fruit, vegetables, gas braai stoves, chairs and tables.
All confiscated goods were taken to Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) pounds in Brakpan and Boksburg.
EMPD spokesperson Deliwe Ndlovu said the by-laws compliance unit will continue conducting such operations.
“The main focus of the operation was on unregistered traders operating at night and those who have permits but are not trading in line with what is stipulated on their permits. The Bylaw Compliance Unit will continue with similar operations to ensure that the city of Ekuruleni stays safe and clean and that everyone abides by the rules of the law.”
