The ad hoc committee investigating police corruption on Wednesday will hear the testimony of Lt Gen Francinah Vuma, who was suspended by the police in 2022.
Vuma served as the deputy national commissioner for support services and later asset and legal management, before her retirement in January.
Vuma is expected to give evidence related to her suspension for procurement-related irregularities and her claims that she was targeted by former minister Bheki Cele and National Commissioner Fannie Masemola.
Her testimony will focus on her tenure as the Deputy National Commissioner and some of the transactions that took place under her watch.
Vuma is also a key figure in high-profile investigations involving police corruption and misconduct
But Vuma was suspended in July 2022 for her alleged role in the cellphone grabber procurement for the African National Congress (ANC)'s Nasrec conference and other irregularities.
During her labour dispute with the police, she claimed her suspension was to get back at her for exposing corruption and sexual harassment involving Cele.
During her suspension, the police later recommended that Vuma be retrenched after an organisational restructuring process that rendered her position redundant.
