Mfuleni police in Cape Town are investigating a double murder following a shooting at the Covid informal settlement on Friday.

Two men, aged 37 and 38, were shot dead by unknown gunmen. According to authorities, the victims were neighbours. The incident began when intruders entered the home of one of the men.

Police Spokesperson Ndakhe Gwala explained that the second victim, who was part of the taxi industry, attempted to intervene before being killed.

"The neighbour who was in the taxi industry went to assist when he met his demise," said Gwala. "The motive for the attack is a subject of police investigation; no arrest has been made at this stage."
