Patriotic Alliance (PA) leader Gayton McKenzie has launched the Joshlin Smith Foundation, two years after the six-year-old disappeared from her Middelpos home in Saldanha Bay.

The foundation will support searches for missing children and assist affected families.

In 2025, Joshlin’s mother, Kelly Smith, along with Jacquin “Boeta” Appollis and Steveno Van Rhyn, were convicted for kidnapping and child trafficking in connection with the case.

At the launch held at the Dial Rock Community Centre over the weekend, McKenzie said he has received new information that could lead to a breakthrough in Joshlin’s search.

McKenzie added that the decision to start the foundation was entirely his own.

“Nobody held a gun to my head and said I must start a foundation. Nobody asked me to start a foundation. I decided it's a duty to start a foundation, and I said to my leaders in the PA, I'm going to start it for Joshlin. But it's not only for Joshlin – it's for the children who go missing. And I also gave my lawyers instructions to start the foundation.”
