KwaZulu-Natal top cop Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi will again take to the witness stand before Parliament’s ad hoc committee probing police graft to make his closing submission on Wednesday.
He is expected to take the witness stand to respond to the evidence so far and respond to serious allegations against him.
Mkhwanazi will be the committee’s last witness, before it wraps up its inquiry at the end of the month.
The KZN Police Commissioner will return to the place where it all started six months ago, when he was the first witness to give evidence at the start of the inquiry.
The committee has so far heard evidence from no fewer than 16 witnesses, including police officials and private citizens who alleged widespread corruption in the criminal justice system.

Mkhwanazi’s closing appearance will see him respond to several questions about the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) disbandment and allegations implicating him in receiving cash from underworld figures.
On Tuesday, evidence leader Norman Arendse shared details of other allegations against Mkhwanazi and other senior police officials.
“There’s been allegations that Lt General Mkhwanazi, Lt General Dumisani Khumalo and Nosipho Madondo do not have security clearance. And it’s also referenced in the leaked inspector general of intelligence reports.”
Mkhwanazi is expected to deny allegations of corruption and provide clarity on matters concerning his security clearance.
