Gauteng cop Sergeant Fannie Nkosi has been accused of lying and being an uncooperative witness at the Madlanga Commission.

On Friday Nkosi made his sixth appearance before the commission to testify on allegations that he acted as an intermediary between suspected crime bosses and government officials.

However, Nkosi has been taken to task  by commissioners for conveniently forgetting key details when asked about his past actions and sometimes refusing to comment.

Co-commissioner Sesi Baloyi described sergeant Nkosi as an obstructive and unhelpful witness.

The sergeant also faced the ire of commission chairperson Mbuyiseli Madlanga.

Madlanga was unhappy with Nkosi’s answer when questioned about the message he sent to his friend a few days after the killing of Oupa ‘DJ Sumbody’ Sefoka.

Messages before the commission show Nkosi asked a friend, who knew the DJ why he didn’t call him to order.

Nkosi initially told the commission he doesn’t remember why he sent the message, drawing this reaction from Madlanga.

"Please please apply your mind and try to remember over the lunch break because I know you are lying to us so I want you to come back and give us an honest and truthful answer.”

Nkosi later told the commission he was telling his friend he should’ve warned DJ Sumbody to stay away from people’s girlfriends.
