With almost half of the Roodepoort area without power, City Power and Eskom teams are continuing repairs on Friday morning to restore electricity.

The teams have been working overnight to identify and conduct repairs after several areas suffered a major outage on Thursday afternoon.

City Power said an Eskom line feeding its intake substations that power up almost half of Roodepoort exploded during the outage.

As a result, this has regressed repairs that were made following the outage.

City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said they’re still working to restore power to the homes of all the affected residents.

Meanwhile, residents are urged to monitor City Power’s social media platforms to prepare accordingly in case the problem persists into the weekend.
