Severe thunderstorms are expected across Gauteng on Friday. A yellow Level 2 warning has been issued for Gauteng and Mpumalanga, with severe thunderstorms expected in the afternoon.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) said residents can expect partly cloudy conditions throughout the morning; however, temperatures will be cooler with thundershowers developing later in the day.
The weather service said there is a high likelihood of impact, including localised flooding in low-lying areas such as bridges and roads.
The storms may also result in damage to infrastructure, informal settlements and vehicles - as well as disruptions to power supply and other essential services
Motorists are urged to exercise caution as wet and flooded roads are expected to increase the risk of accidents.
Residents are also advised to stay alert for the possibility of power surges or outages as inclement weather affects the province.
