ActionSA has apologised to Tshwane residents after its councillor in the city, Kholofelo Morodi, was recently smacked with corruption allegations.
The councillor was recently implicated at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, with testimony linking her to a plot to manipulate a tender.
She’s also been suspended from the party, pending an internal investigation into allegations revealed at the commission.
Morodi was initially given seven days to submit written representations explaining why she shouldn’t be given the boot.
However, Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya was not satisfied with her submissions and decided to fire her as the MMC for Corporate and Shared Services.
ActionSA has welcomed this decision, saying that the party has no space to tolerate officials who are accused of serious acts of graft.
The party said that its leadership will now deliberate on whether Morodi’s membership should be terminated.
The party has also apologised to Tshwane residents for what it called was its poor judgment of Morodi’s character.
