The African National Congress (ANC)’s Eastern Cape provincial executive is meeting to decide whether to proceed with the party's elective conference.
The party's 10th provincial conference is hanging in the balance after Thursday's interim court interdict to stop it from proceeding.
But the party said it's appealing the ruling, with some members insisting that the conference would go ahead.
President Cyril Ramaphosa was scheduled to open the conference, but it's not yet clear whether he will be in attendance.
The party's provincial media officer, Gift Ngqondi, explained: “I can confirm that at 11am we have a special PEC [provincial executive committee] meeting that is going to be dealing with this matter, then after that, I think we will have a clear answer whether the conference continues or not.”
