Residents help police snare shooting suspects after Delft South gunfight

Two suspects are set to face charges, including those of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as attempted murder, following a shootout in Delft South on Friday night.
Police say crime prevention unit officers acted on reports of gunfire.
Residents in the area pointed out the suspects to the officers as they fled the scene.
A chase followed, leading to a gunfight before the officers apprehended the pair.
According to Police Spokesperson Wesley Twigg, two 38 special revolvers and ammunition were confiscated at the scene, adding that the suspects will appear in court on Monday.
“They were arrested for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and attempted murder. The suspects are due to appear in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court on 30 March 2026.”
