President Cyril Ramaphosa is calling for a ceasefire of the war in the Middle East, saying it has had a far-reaching and devastating impact.
Tuesday marks a month since the United States and Israel conducted coordinated military operations against Iran.

The country’s subsequent retaliation has also impacted both countries.
The ongoing war has had a negative effect on global trade and economies at large.
Ramaphosa was speaking on the sidelines of a government gathering in KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday.
"We are hopeful that there will be a negotiated settlement that will bring an end to the nightmare, and we want it sooner rather than later - in fact, we want to call for a ceasefire - an immediate ceasefire is what the whole world needs so that this horrible war can come to an end with immediate effect."
