The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry has reminded the public that it cannot investigate matters that fall outside of its terms of reference.
The commission said it has received public submissions since it began its work last September.
After a two-week Easter break, proceedings continue on Tuesday to probe allegations of criminal and political interference in the justice system.

Commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels said the scope of the inquiry is limited to the allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal top cop Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi during a media briefing in July 2025.
“Whilst the commission continues to receive and welcomes all information relevant to its terms of reference, it is not mandated to investigate all allegations of wrongdoing across the criminal justice system.
“President Cyril Ramaphosa has extended the term of the commission, with a second interim report due to be submitted to the president by 29 May, and a final report by 31 August 2026.”
