The case against South African Football Association (SAFA) president Danny Jordaan returns to the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Tuesday.
Jordaan, along with three SAFA executives, is facing fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud charges.
This involves R1.3 million of SAFA money that Jordaan allegedly used for his personal gain.
At the last court appearance, the accused's lawyers argued that the matter be struck off the roll pending a review application at the High Court of the search and seizure conducted at SAFA House.
This is in connection with the alleged unlawful use of SAFA funds towards Jordaan’s personal security and the employment of a PR firm to manage his public image following rape allegations in 2017.
They have sought to have the charges against them struck off the roll, citing a High Court application to review the search and seizure at SAFA House before their arrest in 2024.
The accused want the search and seizure operation to be deemed unlawful, and the contents found impermissible in court.
However, the court denied the submissions after the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) stated it was ready to proceed.
Jordaan’s team also argued that unreasonable delays in the case warranted removing it from the roll.
The State refuted this and said it would be ready for the matter to be set down for plea and trial on Tuesday.
