The case against Bellarmine Mugabe and co-accused Tobiaz Matondze returns to the Alexandra Magistrates Court on Friday.

The pair have been in custody since March after allegedly shooting an employee in their Hyde Park home in February.

The case was postponed at their last appearance to give time to plea negotiations.

Mugabe and Matondze have been remanded in custody after they abandoned their bail applications, choosing instead to go ahead with plea negotiations.

But the defence and State were unable to reach an agreement last month, resulting in the case being postponed for a final time to Friday, 17 April 2026.

This comes after multiple postponements following electricity challenges at the court and disagreement on plea negotiations.

The duo is facing seven charges, including contravening the Immigration Act, attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice and the illegal possession of a firearm.
