The Home affairs department has dismissed seven more officials bringing the total number of dismissals to 63 since July 2024, as the department intensifies its crackdown on misconduct.
Sixteen more officials have also been suspended with actions linked to internal disciplinary processes and findings from the special investigating unit.
Authorities said that the move forms part of a broader effort to root out corruption and restore integrity within the department.
Since the formation of the Government of National Unity, Home Affairs has initiated 95 misconduct cases, with 75 already finalised.
The department said that this reflects a more aggressive and consistent approach to consequence management aimed at dealing with wrongdoing swiftly and decisively.
Home Affairs has long faced criticism over fraud, bribery and administrative failures, particularly around ID documents, passports and immigration services.
Minister Leon Schreiber said, “The decisive pace at which the department now processes disciplinary matters, resulting in ongoing dismissals and other disciplinary action, demonstrates our unwavering commitment to cleaning up The damage done to home affairs over many years.”
He added that officials found guilty of misconduct will be dealt with immediately.
