The South African Weather Service has warned that wet weather conditions will persist throughout this weekend.
The service has maintained a Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms, with disruptive rain expected in several parts of the country.
Since the start of the week, heavy downpours have hit several parts of the country, damaging infrastructure and some roads.
The public is urged to stay cautious, avoid flooded roads and stay updated with official alerts.
Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela says these conditions are expected mainly in the eastern and central parts of the North West into the Free State as well as into the eastern parts of the Northern Cape.
“For most parts of the eastern areas of the free state, you can expect a yellow level 4 warning of severe thunderstorms. We are expecting severe thunderstorms and heavy downpours that lead to localised flooding, a possibility of damaging winds, hail and lightning into the evening,” he added.
