A new walkway has been opened on the summit of Table Mountain to improve accessibility for a wider range of visitors, from those with mobility impairments to families with little ones in prams.

The project is the result of a partnership between South African National Parks (SANParks) and the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway (TMACC).

It marks a significant step in advancing inclusive tourism and universal design at one of South Africa’s most iconic landmarks, SANParks says in a statement.

"The Universal Access Walkway enables visitors using wheelchairs, as well as those with prams or mobility challenges, to experience the summit safely and comfortably."

The project underscores SANParks’ and TMACC’s shared commitment to accessibility, dignity, and inclusivity, they say.

As TMACC puts it, everyone deserves to experience the magic of Table Mountain.
