IPID's deputy provincial head in the Western Cape, Mario September, testified as a witness for the defence in the trial of alleged underworld gang boss Nafiz Modack on Tuesday, saying police are still being investigated for the murder of top cop Charl Kinnear.
September was in the witness stand in the Western Cape High Court to testify about IPID's investigation into Kinnear's murder.
Modack, who is on trial along with 14 others, faces 122 charges, including the murder of Kinnear in 2020.
September told the court he's the head of a task team investigating certain police officers for possible involvement in Kinnear's murder.

September said among the officers being probed was Major General Andre Lincoln, who passed away due to illness last year.
Lincoln, who was Kinnear's superior and a previous witness in the Modack matter, came under scrutiny for removing Kinnear's security detail just months before his murder.
Presiding judge Robert Henney questioned September about the relevance of his evidence against Lincoln.
"My lord, I think from our investigation. The platform was laid bare for the crime to be committed."
September told the court that IPID's investigation into the murder of Kinnear is still ongoing.
