KwaZulu-Natal police have been lauded for their handling of the investigation into the murder of seven members of the Monswamy family.
Businessman Alan Monswamy was kidnapped along with his family last Tuesday and later murdered. It took police just hours to make a breakthrough in the case, leading to the arrest of several individuals.
On Tuesday, three suspects appeared in the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court in connection with the brutal killings.
The investigation is being led by a team of seasoned experts, including Bob Pillay, the lead investigator currently handling the high-profile murder cases of rapper Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes and celebrity chef Tebello 'Tibz' Motsoane.

Pillay is supported by counterparts from the award-winning Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit, a team specifically tasked with tackling complex homicide cases.
KZN Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli, who attended the court proceedings today, expressed full confidence in the South African Police Service (SAPS).
Responding to potential sceptics regarding the investigation's integrity, Ntuli stated: “I doubt that they are [failing] because police do not know what they are doing. Police know their work; they’ve done the spade work, that is why they’re here.”
Mirroring the Premier's sentiments, Mzamo Billy, the KwaZulu-Natal Whip in the National Council of Provinces, praised the "no-nonsense" approach taken by law enforcement.
“The number of resources that went into this, the expertise that went into this is absolutely fascinating," Billy said. "The swift action is really something that must be commended.”
The investigation remains active.
Police in the province have confirmed that they are currently following a possible lead, and another arrest is considered imminent.
