Modack trial: Witness says top cop Chark Kinnear was pinged by police officers

The prosecution in the high-profile trial of alleged underworld gang boss Nafiz Modack on Tuesday made an admission that slain top cop Charl Kinnear was being pinged by police officers.
Mario September testified as a witness for the defence related to IPID's investigation into Kinnear's murder.
Modack, who is on trial along with 14 others, faces 122 charges, including the murder of Kinnear in 2020.

Co-accused Zane Kilian's lawyer, Advocate Pieter Nel, questioned the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID)'s deputy provincial head in the Western Cape, September, about whether Kinnear was being pinged by police officers.
Kilian faces charges related to pinging the location of Kinnear numerous times on the day of his murder.
September told the court that evidence shows Kinnear was being pinged by police officers, including convicted crime intelligence officer Paul Scheepers.
"We believe so. We were made aware he did ping him."
Scheepers was recently convicted for a series of crimes related to illegal surveillance and pinging.
