Ukrainian troops successfully rescued a 77-year-old woman stranded in a warzone near Lyman by using an unmanned ground robot.

Drone operators spotted her near the frontline, prompting the 60th Separate Mechanised Brigade to dispatch the robot with a blanket and a “Grandma, sit down” note.

Footage released by Ukraine’s Third Army Corps shows a four-hour rescue.

The elderly woman can be seen walking hunched over with two walking sticks as she moves slowly along a long road.

She approached the robot and climbed aboard.

The military said the woman’s home had been destroyed in the war.

Kyiv’s fleet of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) has grown since its war with Russia began.

They were designed to perform various tasks, which include keeping humans away from dangerous areas and assisting with evacuations.
