Dreaming of a career in music but not sure where to start? The Bridges for Music Academy is here to help.

Bridges for Music Academy is a non-profit organisation based in Langa that has been empowering creative youth from underserved communities in South Africa since 2013.

Through a holistic approach to education, the organisation offers programmes focused on electronic music, digital literacy, mindfulness, and entrepreneurship – equipping the next generation of artists and innovators with the tools to thrive personally and professionally.

Kasana says the dream is to eventually expand across Africa, creating opportunities for young creatives who lack the resources and tools to pursue their aspirations.

She says the organisation aims to show young artists who want to pursue music as a career where the elements of becoming a sustainable artist come from, as well as the various career paths and revenue streams available within the industry.

"Ever since I started, I've really unlocked my potential through the resources that they've provided me with."

Thanks to Bridges for Music, Kasana says she has come full circle – now working within the organisation.

She adds that it has also given her the opportunity to travel the world and share the universal language of music.

"I think that's the motive and empowerment that Bridges does, it's creating changemakers."
