The musical charity and mentorship programme’s Buskaid Soweto String Ensemble is gearing up for a special performance at the Linder Auditorium on Sunday, 3 August.
Prepare for a unique fusion of classical masterpieces, township beats, and amapiano influences all on one stage.
They will be joined by renowned South African performer Sibongile Mngoma. The programme also includes a semi-staged performance of Teleman’s Don Quixote Suite.
“Kids were pouring in, wanting to play classical music, which was pretty fascinating… We started with 15 kids, and we’ve had thousands come to Buskaid.”
– Rosemary Naiden, founder – Buskaid Music School
“All of the youngsters who come to Buskaid do not have any creative opportunities at school.”
