Du Noon fire: Teams ready to attend to infrastructure damage

The City of Cape Town has said its teams are on standby to assist with clearing the fire site and to attend to infrastructure damage caused by the fire in Du Noon.
A fire swept through the Site 5 informal settlement on Friday.
The extent of the damage is yet to be determined, and assessments will only be conducted on Saturday.
A team from Gift of the Givers is on the ground to attend to immediate humanitarian relief needs.

City Disaster Management Centre spokesperson Charlotte Powell said donations from the public are welcome.
"Donations from the public can be dropped off at the following fire stations: Goodwood, Roeland Street, Lakeside, Constantia, Hout Bay, Strand, Wynberg and Milnerton. Anyone wanting to assist those affected by the incident can support the donation drive by contributing non-perishable food, personal hygiene items (soap, toothpaste, face cloths, sanitary towels), as well as nappies and baby formula, bedding and blankets," said Powell.
