E-hailing drivers plan national strike: ‘The mother of all protests is coming’ - NEFSA

E-hailing drivers are planning a strike to protest exploitative working conditions and high commission structures.

Lekgowane says the slashing of fares over the years, and the deactivation of operators accounts without due process are some of the major issues they are battling with.

He says there have been sporadic marches in various provinces, but this strike will be a coordinated move across the entire country.

NEFSA is calling for a restructure of the pricing for e-hailing services, an immediate stop to the phasing out of older vehicles, and a stop to the deactivation of driver profiles.

The organisers will meet on 23 July to plan when the strike will start.
