In 1975, Jaws graced our screens, forever changing how the world saw sharks.

Fifty years later, the film's impact is still felt in pop culture and conservation.

This July, National Geographic will honour the iconic blockbuster with the only authorised documentary on the film.

‘JAWS @ 50: The Definitive Inside Story’ will feature never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage, exclusive interviews, and personal home videos.

“We’re understanding the behind-the-scenes of what happened behind the making of Jaws and what can be said about how we can use this exposé on sharks to protect them.”
- Gibbs Kuguru, shark scientist
“No message can be any more important to me as a shark scientist than understanding how best to exist and coexist with the wildlife that inhabits our environment.”
- Gibbs Kuguru, shark scientist
“When people watched it, they became afraid of sharks because now the fear of the ocean had a face, and had a name, and its name was 'Jaws, the Great White Shark'.”
- Gibbs Kuguru, shark scientist
